My story.

Ron Cresswell.

Ron is dedicated to the highest quality craftsmanship and customer service, specialising in all types of classic and traditional furniture and antique restoration. He is able to undertake a full range of work including structural repair, renovation, and veneering, re-finishing, including French polishing.

The Restorer

Ron’s passion for furniture restoration goes back to the1960’s. As a student at school in the north of England he spent much time with Graham Buckley, one of Yorkshire’s most respected restorers.

Upon leaving school he spent three years at Loughborough College where he studied furniture making and design under the guidance of the world-renowned Edward Barnsley CBE a very important figure in the 20th-century British craft movement and a very demanding taskmaster.

Although much of Ron’s life has been occupied as a teacher of Technology, he has always maintained his love of fine furniture restoration and manufacture.

Now residing full time in Ashburton New Zealand, he continues to use his craftsmanship and talent to restore and make quality furniture for an ever-growing number of happy Cantabrians.

The traditional approach

Restoration work is completed using traditional materials, tools and methods giving the owner confidence that the restoration has been carried out in a manner sympathetic to the period that the furniture represents.
